This Kothrud bungalow wanted two things that are usually contradictory: net-metering credit and genuine backup during evening outages. We installed a 5 kW hybrid inverter with a 5 kWh LiFePO4 battery bank feeding a critical-load panel for lights, fans, router and refrigerator.
The array sits on an elevated 5 ft galvanised structure so the terrace remains usable for drying and functions, and the panels are spaced to avoid inter-row shading in December when the sun is lowest.
After commissioning, MSEDCL installed the bidirectional meter and the family exports surplus units during the day while having four to six hours of backup in the evening.
